Volunteer groups across the UK are being celebrated for their extraordinary contributions to community life, as nominations open for The King’s Award for Voluntary Service—the highest honour given to local volunteer organisations.

From grassroots initiatives tackling loneliness to environmental champions transforming green spaces, the award recognises the tireless efforts of those who give their time to make a difference. Now, members of the public are being encouraged to nominate groups they believe deserve national recognition.

🏃‍♂️ Volunteers Needed for the Bury BID 10K – Sunday 7th September!

Be part of one of Bury’s most exciting community events! The Bury 10K is a fun, friendly run open to all abilities, and they’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make it a success.

The event is particularly looking for route marshals. The role is a great chance to spend the morning seeing the event close up, and you’ll be primarily there to sing (if you wish), dance and cheer on the runners.

Due to the nature of the role, you will need to be 18 years of age or over

On Wednesday 11th June 2025, the Green Community Café in Clarence Park came alive with energy, conversation, and creativity as the Bury Age Without Limits event delivered a fantastic day of fun, learning and connection. Organised by the Bury Older People’s Network in collaboration with the Ageing in Place project, the event celebrated the talents and experiences of older people, while inviting the wider community to get involved.
