Overview
This project aims to improve access to and experiences of healthcare for individuals with neurological conditions (e.g. stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease) in Bury. It will be delivered through trusted VCSE organisations that are embedded in communities experiencing health inequalities.
We are looking to work with five organisations with an interest in this work who will be supported to gather peer-led insights and contribute to shaping local and Greater Manchester NHS strategies.
Who Can Apply?
We welcome applications from VCSE organisations that:
- Work with individuals affected by neurological conditions. The focus of this phase is on neurological conditions that have been underrepresented in recent engagement activity, such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and related disorders, including motor neuron disease, Huntington’s disease, and cerebral palsy.
- Represent communities experiencing health inequalities (e.g. racial inequality, deprivation, disability).
- Are based in or operate within the Bury Borough.
- Have the capacity to engage with local people and gather meaningful feedback.
Organisations/Community groups do not need prior experience in community/patient engagement or research; training and support will be provided.
What Will Be Expected of You?
If selected, your organisation will:
- Attend co-design sessions (18th Feb (morning) / 10th March (morning) 2026).
- Deliver engagement activities (e.g. focus groups and interviews) in April & May 2026.
- Submit a short report summarising insights gathered.
- Participate in a debrief session to help shape future work.
You will receive:
- A small grant (£3000) to support delivery.
- Training and templates for engagement and reporting.
- Ongoing support from VCFA and Healthwatch Bury.
