A new community-powered initiative is set to transform how people across Bury cook, eat and live well. Let’s Live Well & Cook Well is inviting local voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) groups to take part in an exciting programme designed to boost cooking skills, improve health and tackle food inequality head-on.
At its heart, the programme is about making good food accessible to everyone. By supporting grassroots organisations to deliver affordable, nutritious cooking sessions, the project aims to build confidence in the kitchen while promoting healthier lifestyles. From family-friendly cooking classes to budget-conscious meal planning, the initiative will help residents develop practical skills that make a real difference at home and across communities.
Ten local VCSE organisations will be selected to lead the way. Successful groups will receive:
- A £2,500 funding to deliver community cooking activities
- Expert training through the COOKWell course
- Ongoing support from Cracking Good Food and VCFA
- Access to vital kitchen equipment and resources
No prior cooking project experience is required—just a passion for supporting people to live healthier, happier lives.
The programme aligns with Bury’s wider Live Well agenda, Public Health priorities, and the Bury Food Partnership working towards a fairer, more sustainable and resilient food system for all. By empowering communities most affected by health inequalities, Let’s Live Well & Cook Well is about more than food it’s about confidence, connection and long-term wellbeing.
If you're interested in being involved, organisations should submit their expression of interest by the 30th June (midday)
