Tree Nursery Volunteer

at City of Trees

Role Description

City of Trees are looking for volunteers with a passion for the outdoors who are keen to get involved and help us set up our new tree nursery at Barnfield Park. No prior experience is needed, all we ask is enthusiasm for the outdoors and willingness to get stuck in! Volunteers will assist the Barnfield team with the sowing and growing of trees and wildflowers and aid in the upkeep and maintenance of the site. Activities volunteers will undertake include pricking out seeds, weeding, seed processing and sowing, and DIY jobs such as building raised beds.

Regular volunteering sessions run at Barnfield Park on Tuesday's 10am-3pm. You are welcome to join us for all or part of the day, please do let our Barnfield team know if you are unable to stay for the full session. All tools and equipment will be provided; please wear suitable clothing for outdoor work and sturdy footwear. Barnfield has a functioning kitchen with a toaster, fridge, microwave, hot water, tea, coffee, and milk all provided for volunteers to use.

City of Trees is the Community Forest for Greater Manchester. We plant trees, we look after trees, we promote a culture of trees. We are proud to call Greater Manchester home and are passionate about making our region even better, one tree at a time. City of Trees is excited to be transforming Barnfield into a functioning tree nursery where we will grow trees from seed to be planted across communities in Greater Manchester.
