Carers Bring Community Together Through Remembrance Crafting Project

text

Volunteers involved in the Bury Carers’ Crafting Hub have come together to create a series of Remembrance-themed post-box toppers, helping to bring communities together through creativity and remembrance.

Following the success of a previous post-box topper project, Bury Carers Hub worked with local Tesco community champions to develop a new initiative for post boxes across Bury and Prestwich. Easy Poppy Making sessions were held to ensure volunteers of all skill levels could take part, while patterns and materials were delivered to those unable to attend because of their caring responsibilities.

The completed handcrafted toppers were first shared with local veterans before being installed on post boxes in Prestwich, Bury and Radcliffe. The displays are now helping to mark Remembrance across the borough.

The project was made possible through collaboration between volunteers, community organisations, local venues and partners, including the Live Well Centre in Whitefield. As well as creating eye-catching displays, the initiative provided opportunities for connection, creativity and community involvement, highlighting the positive contribution volunteers make across Bury.
