Owen from our Capacity Building team was delighted to attend One Step Bury’s open day on 17th March. It was a double celebration to mark the organisation’s 5th birthday and also their move next door to improved premises just outside Bury town centre better suited to their activities. One Step were successful in securing funding from the National Lottery’s Awards for All at the end of 2025 to fund the move and renovation of the new space, which is bigger, more flexible and more accessible for their service users.
Founding director, Judith, gave tours of the new space and a presentation to attendees from local VCSE groups, residents and support services sharing One Step’s story over the past 5 years.
One Step volunteers Jodie and Paul also shared their own stories about how One Step has positively impacted their wellbeing and helped them overcome challenges in their own lives. These stories were very powerful to hear and a testament to the wonderful work One Step do supporting the local community.
One Step offer a holistic approach to mental health and physical wellbeing, with activities including exercise classes, peer support groups, art classes, games nights, nutrition and cookery sessions, yoga, mindfulness and relaxation classes.
Bury VCFA are delighted to be funding One Step’s ‘Money, Meals, Movement & Mindset’ 8 week wellbeing programme through the Let’s Tackle Poverty fund.
