Preparing and Filing Your First CIC Accounts – A Practical Guide
We're delighted to offer this practical 3-hour training session with Moragh from North West Numbers CIC, designed specifically for Community Interest Companies (CICs).
This session is aimed at pre-startup, new and early-stage CICs preparing to file their first set of accounts. No prior accounting knowledge is required.
By the end of this session, you will:
- Understand what financial information a CIC is required to submit
- Learn the key filing deadlines for Companies House, HMRC and the CIC Regulator
- Understand the purpose of annual accounts, Corporation Tax Returns and the CIC34 report
- Learn what financial records you should be keeping throughout the year
- Understand how a cashbook feeds into your accounts and reports
- Identify common mistakes that make year-end reporting more stressful than it needs to be
- Leave with practical templates, tools and guidance to help you prepare for your first year-end
The session will work backwards from the filing process, helping you understand exactly what information will be needed and how to put simple systems in place now to make future reporting easier.
For CICs currently without an accountant, this session provides an essential introduction to year-end financial management and reporting requirements. However, even if you already have an accountant, we encourage directors to attend. As a company director, it is you (not your accountant) who is legally responsible for financial compliance, making informed financial decisions and maintaining appropriate financial systems.
The session includes practical examples, templates and exercises to help participants build confidence in understanding what is required and how to prepare effectively.
