Bookkeeping for Community Groups & Charities
This engaging introductory session is designed to help community groups and small charities build confidence in managing their finances. Participants will learn the basics of good bookkeeping, including how to record income and expenses, organise receipts, and keep clear, accurate financial records that support transparency and trust.
The session explains the key differences in financial responsibilities for informal community groups versus registered charities, and highlights simple systems that help both stay organised—whether handling small grants, donations, or project‑based spending. Attendees will explore practical examples, easy templates, and common pitfalls to avoid, leaving with straightforward tools they can start using immediately.
By the end of the session, participants will understand the importance of good bookkeeping, feel more confident managing their group’s money, and be better equipped to meet the expectations of funders, stakeholders, and their own members.
