Volunteer Leadership & Coordinators Network – Quarterly Session

The Volunteer Leadership & Coordinators Network is a quarterly forum for leaders and coordinators from voluntary, community, and faith groups across the Borough of Bury. These sessions provide a supportive space to connect with peers, share learning, and explore best practice in volunteer leadership, helping to strengthen volunteering locally and reduce isolation for those leading volunteers.

The Volunteer Leadership & Coordinators Network is a quarterly space for leaders, coordinators, and managers from voluntary, community, and faith groups across the Borough of Bury to come together in a supportive and collaborative environment. The network exists to strengthen volunteering locally by creating time and space for connection, shared learning, and honest conversation about the realities of leading volunteers in today’s landscape.

Each session brings together people from a wide range of organisations and causes, offering an opportunity to step away from day-to-day pressures and engage with others who understand both the challenges and rewards of volunteer leadership. The network is built on the principle of collaboration rather than competition, recognising that strong relationships between organisations are essential to building a resilient and sustainable volunteering ecosystem across the borough.

The quarterly meetings offer a balance of structured discussion and informal networking. Participants are encouraged to share experiences, explore emerging issues, and exchange practical ideas and approaches. Topics often include volunteer recruitment and retention, wellbeing and boundaries, inclusion, leadership culture, and responding to change, with sessions shaped by the needs and priorities of those attending.

Above all, the Volunteer Leadership & Coordinators Network aims to ensure that volunteer leaders do not work in isolation. Whether you are new to coordinating volunteers or have years of experience, these sessions provide a welcoming and inclusive space to reflect, learn from others, and contribute to the ongoing development of volunteering across Bury.
