Role Description

This volunteering opportunity is open to anyone who will like to give their time to help children [ages 7 to 16 years] and adults to enhance their computer skills. No previous experience of volunteering or teaching is required as there will be training opportunities available for those who need it.

Inclusion Statement: Are you passionate about technology and eager to make a difference in your community? Sovereign House GH is seeking dedicated Volunteer IT Support Assistants to join our dynamic team supporting children, young people and 50+ Adults in developing essential digital skills.

As a Volunteer IT Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining and updating equipment, assisting learners during sessions, and helping to create a safe and effective learning environment. You’ll work alongside experienced IT teachers and fellow volunteers to support our Computer Learning Programme, which empowers children aged 7–16, including those from minoritised backgrounds or outside mainstream education, to build confidence and digital literacy.

Volunteers are asked to complete or provide: Application form, ID Check, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, Reference(s), Informal discussion (may include an interview)
Activities: Community Hub/work, Digital/IT support, Support Work, Teaching and Training
Skills: Basic IT, Evaluating & Reviewing, Good IT Skills, Language Skills, Managing People, Organising and Planning, Key Responsibilities:

Assist with setting up and maintaining laptops and digital devices.
Support learners during sessions with basic troubleshooting and guidance.
Help with software updates, internet safety tools, and digital platforms.
Contribute to a welcoming and inclusive learning space.
