Little Britain Anglers Volunteer Bailiffs

at Little Britain Anglers

Role Description

Little Britain Anglers are a passionate local fishing and conservation club that bring new life, regeneration and activities to the River Irwell and nearby canals. We are looking to expand our volunteer team and are now recruiting Volunteer Bailiffs to help protect and support the waters we care for.
Our Volunteer Bailiffs play an important role in safeguarding our fishing environments. This includes checking anglers’ permits on our waters, offering guidance on how to join the club via our local tackle shop or Clubmate, and helping maintain a safe, welcoming environment for anglers and the wider community.
As part of this role, volunteers can also join the Angling Trust’s Voluntary Bailiff Scheme, a national network where incidents affecting fisheries or the environment can be reported. This is optional, free to take part in, and supported by the club.

The role includes:
Checking anglers’ permits on Little Britain Anglers waters
Offering friendly advice on membership and signposting to join
Acting as a visible presence to promote responsible fishing
Reporting concerns through the Angling Trust Voluntary Bailiff Scheme (optional)
Working as part of a local bailiff team
Helping to keep our waterways safe, clean and welcoming
Basic training will be provided by Little Britain Anglers, and the Angling Trust offers additional guidance and support through their app-based scheme.
