Chairing Skills: Confident, Effective Meeting Leadership

This practical, interactive course is designed to help anyone who chairs meeting. Whether in a community group, committee, charity, or workplace to develop the skills and confidence to lead productive, inclusive and well‑structured meetings.

 

Participants will learn how to plan and run meetings that stay on track, encourage balanced participation, and lead to clear decisions and actions. The session covers essential chairing techniques, managing challenging situations, and creating a positive environment where everyone feels heard.

This course will be delivered by Katherine, our friendly Capacity Building Development Officer.

During this course, participants will learn:

  1. The role of the chair and governance requirements

  2. How to structure meetings to stay focused and efficient

  3. Influencing skills to facilitate discussions and ensure all voices are included

  4. How to manage conflict or difficult behaviours with confidence

This course is ideal for new or aspiring chairs, committee members, community leaders, or anyone wanting to build stronger facilitation and leadership skills.

There will also be time during the session to network with other attendees and learn more about their organisations.
